Jamie McCrary
My name is Jamie McCrary and the sport of gymnastics has been my passion since I was nine years old. I started as a recreational gymnast and not long after that, I fell in love with the sport and I knew that I wanted more out of it. At the age of 11 I started my competitive training. I competed until I was 16 years old and finished as a Provincial Level four gymnast.
Prior to joining Champions, I was employed with Dynamyx Gymnastics Club in St. Albert. I began apprentice coaching at the age of 13 and coaching my own classes at age 16. Initially I was coaching a wide variety of recreational classes; however I quickly became more interested in the developmental/competitive side of gymnastics. For the past three years, I’ve been coaching pre-competitive groups comprised of gymnasts aged five to eight. I am currently a Level 1 certified gymnastics coach and I will be completing the final part of the Level 2 certification requirements in October, 2010.
I’m a strong believer in professional development and over the past six years I’ve taken several courses to continually develop my coaching skills. I am very excited about my new position at Champions and I’m eager to further develop my coaching skills in order to become the best coach I can be!
In addition to my coaching, I am currently entering my third year in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta.
