Summer Camp reports

Follow the week-by-week reports on our exciting Summer Camps !
"Week #7- This week our campers explored Time Travel starting out with a trip to the Royal Alberta Museum to check out the dinosaurs! Ancient Egypt day involved making a Pharoh's mask and wrapping up our mummies! A trip to Fort Edmonton Park, Modern Day video games and a space theme capped this week of fun!"
"Week #6- Our final week of the Rhythm & Dance theme went out with a bang! The campers enjoyed another week of breakdancing, hip hop lessons and rhythmic gymnastics with a dip in Hardisty Pool on Wednesday. Next week our adventures lead us time-travelling!"
Week #5- This first week of August, our campers were treated to a visit from Western Canadian Kung Fu Champions Mike Wittig, who taught them Wing Chun and tiger style martial arts. They also learned Brazilian Capoeira and self defense.
Weeks #3 & 4- Our campers enjoyed lessons & demonstrations from different teachers for our theme of "Rhythm & Dance". Between breakdancing, hip hop and rhythmic gymnastics, these campers got to cool off in the pool! A special trip to the Splash Park on Friday capped off a great first week of Rhythm & Dance!
Week #2- This week, our campers ventured out into the wild for the "Animals & Nature" themed camp. A trip to the Valley Zoo, a visit from the S.P.C.A., and an exciting trip to the Edmonton Police K-9 Unit to see the police dogs topped off an extraordinary week !
Week #1- Champions Gymnastics' Summer Camps started out great with our theme of "Circus Magic & Mystery" ! The participants enjoyed demonstrations from performers such as Renee Pugh and Schuyler Snowdon. The kids tried walking on stilts, juggling, magic tricks and other circus-inspired skills. Champions Gymnastics Parents Association to hold its Annual Golf Tournament & Draws on June 10 2006!
The Champions Gymnastics Parents Association is proud to announce that it will be running its first Annual Golf Tournament & Silent Auction on Saturday June 10th, 2006 @ the Millwoods Golf Course in Edmonton.
Golf Tickets are available for $90.00 each and Banquet tickets are also on sale for $35.00 (adults) and $20.00 (kids). Children under 4 are free. Tickets available at Champions Gymnastics (Call 440-0014 and ask for Michel). There will also be a Silent Auction held during the Banquet. We will only accept payment in cash or cheques for any Silent Auction item purchased that evening.
Shot-gun start: 2:00 PM (Registration between 12:00 and 1:30PM at Event Tent). Stroke Play tournament (awards for top 3 best male and female golfers and for "most honest" golfers!).

Champions hosts its SECOND L.E.A.P. event of the season
Champions Gymnastics will be host to young gymnasts from four (4) local gym clubs for the upcoming L.E.A.P. Event #2, which will be held at our Edmonton facility on Saturday February 18 @ 2:30 PM (Physical Abilities) and on Sunday February 19th @ 2:00 PM (Skills).
Champions will be hosting gymnasts from Capital City (Edmonton), Spruce Grove Aerials, Salto (Sherwood Park) and Dynamyx (St-Albert).
Champions will also be fielding gymnasts in this event. They are: Katrina Schirmaier, Kiera Madsen, Jesse Campbell, Chloe Harrison, Shyanna Bedeau, Abigail Lim, Paige Romano & Joscelyne OBrien.

Champions Gymnastics @ West Edmonton Mall
Champions Gymnastics will be holding demonstrations at the world famous West Edmonton Mall on Thursday February 16th at 6:45 PM and on Saturday February 18th at 1:45 PM. The demos will be 15 minute long and will showcase all levels of gymnasts from our club. The demos will be held by the Fountain Stage, close to The Bay.

Valentine's Day Sleepover
Champions Gymnastics is thinking about you: Here's an idea that is both great fun for the kids and inexpensive.
Our special "Valentine's Day" Sleepover!
The sleepover starts at 7:00 PM on Saturday February 11th. During the sleepover, the kids play various games, have contests, open playtime and watch a movie (age-appropriate), under the supervision of CHAMPIONS GYMNASTICS Staff. Before the children "call it a night", they build their own sleeping fortresses with foam blocks, mats and anything else they can think of. What fun !! For breakfast, they have muffins and juice, while they wait for their parents to pick them up at approximately 9:00 am.
Don't forget to bring your sleeping bag, toothbrush and toothpaste, pajamas and your favorite blanket !! There is a maximum number of 40 spots for this Sleepover, so we encourage you to book early, because they fill up quickly ! We do reserve the right to increase the limit, on the condition that we can assign enough staff to keep the ratio in check (approx. 1:10).
The sleepover is supervised by adults; all of our staff is trained in Basic First Aid and have had a Security Clearance check prior to being employed at CHAMPIONS GYMNASTICS. A written Sign-in and a Sign-out form must be filled out on site by the child's parent/ward, in order for the child to be admitted and released.
SCHEDULE: Saturday October 29th/: 7:00 PM to 9:00 am
COSTS: $30.00 per child (includes G.S.T.)

FREE Open-House on Sunday September 12, 2004
Champions Gymnastics is celebrating it's SECOND BIRTHDAY and to kick off it's third season, we would like to invite you to attend our FREE Open-House on Sunday September 12 from 1:00-3:00 PM.
We will be serving free BBQ hot-dogs to all who attend ! Our staff will be on hand to answer any and all questions that you may have. This will also be an opportunity for you to meet some of our new coaches !

2000 Canadian Olympic Gymnast Kate Richardson to train & give clinic for gymnasts in June 2004 !
CHAMPIONS GYMNASTICS is proud to host a VERY SPECIAL Training Camp & CONVERSATION WITH A CHAMPION event to be held in Edmonton on Saturday June 19th & Sunday June 20th. The Training Camp portion is open to C.P.P. Competitive levels (P.2/Pre-Novice & +) + L.E.A.P. Silver & Gold levels and their coaches.
It will be held at the Champions Gymnastics facility, located at 9527-49 St., Edmonton, Alberta. This camp is aimed at providing competitive gymnasts with a high quality development and a memorable meeting with Superstar Canadian gymnast & 2000 Olympian Kate Richardson. NEWS FLASH: Canadian Olympic Hopeful gymnasts Melanie Banville, Heather Purnell, Laura-Ann Chong & Marci Bernholtz to join Kate Richardson in Edmonton from June 17 to June 21 !!!!!
******************************************************* TRAINING CAMP Sunday June 20 (9:00 am to 12:00 PM) This portion will be directed by Mr. David Kenwright, Mr. Michel Arsenault and Mrs Valerie Oudin.
CONVERSATION WITH A CHAMPION Saturday June 19 (7:00-8:15 PM) This is your chance to meet Kate face-to-face and to sit down with her and talk about her career, her preparation for this summer's Olympic Games in Athens. Kate will answer your questions and she will sign autographs after her presentation.
FREE COACH ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION with Mr. David Kenwright (Kate's coach) Saturday June 19 (8:30-9:30 PM) This is an informal sit-down discusssion/social event with David and is reserved for coaches who want to get to know the inner workings of our sport in greater detail and perhaps through a different point of view....

XMAS Party at CHAMPIONS GYMNASTICS!
CHAMPIONS GYMNASTICS would like to invite you and your family and friends to its Annual Kid's Christmas Party on Sunday December 14 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the CHAMPIONS GYMNASTICS facility (9527-49 St.).
The party is FREE.However, each participating family MUST bring one (1) PotLuck item/dish. Children under the age of 6 must be supervised and non-members are welcomed.
The Christmas Party PotLuck Sign-up Sheet is on the Member Information Board at the gym (close to the washroom/gym door). You must indicate which food item you plan to bring. The Party format is that of Open-Gym and consequently, insurance is provided to all guests of the Party by CHAMPIONS GYMNASTICS (unless the person is already a member). We will have demonstrations by our Developmental and SuperGirls gymnasts and various Games for all !

L.E.A.P. Coaching Clinics at CHAMPIONS GYMNASTICS (February 6-8 2004)
As co-authors of the L.E.A.P. Program and as L.E.A.P. Course Conductors, Michel Arsenault and Valerie Oudin are proud to announce that they will be conducting a series of L.E.A.P. COACHING CLINICS as part of the for the upcoming 2003-2004 season. These clinics are specifically designed to help coaches involved in the L.E.A.P. Program with technical progressions, conditioning programs and general L.E.A.P. programming. It is a course designed for coaches who work with L.E.A.P. Copper, Bronze, Silver and Gold athletes. It is not a L.E.A.P. certification course; it is a coaching course. The Course will cover technical progressions on all events. It will also include various conditioning programs and ideas for the improvement of Physical Abilities specific to the L.E.A.P. Program. Demonstrators will be used. The Course will be conducted by Mr. Michel Arsenault (vault/trampoline, bars, floor and conditioning) and by Mrs. Valerie Oudin (beam, choreography, artistic preparation and flexibility). Coaches can register for any number of individual components or for the entire course. Written documentation will also be distributed to all participants as part of this intense course. The Course will NOT cover L.E.A.P. rules and more general aspects of the Program. It will concentrate on providing coaches with concrete progressions and programs to help them in their coaching of L.E.A.P. athletes.
